It s been an excellent group to work with, Noecker said. I think this has shown some real cooperation between Nebraska and South Dakota. People have really learned to work together and have realized how important this bridge is to the future of both states. I think we re going to see the economic benefits of it in the future. When local and state officials gather at the foot of the Discovery Bridge Oct. 11 to dedicate the structure, the committee s work will be done, Black said. It will be an exciting and relieving time, he added. This is a banner day not only for our community and northeast Nebraska, but for the traveling public in general, who will be able to cross the Missouri River on a structure that we believe has a lot of integrity, Cappel said. It just shows you what happens when you get people to work together, Noecker said. It s been a good strong effort. I think we re all realizing that our efforts have paid off over the years.
