Campground Area Miles of sandy beaches provide endless satisfaction for sun lovers. There are 366 campsites and 15 rustic log-style camping cabins if you don t have a camper or tent. Gavins Point A sunny swimming beach awaits you at this area. Hiking trails, a rustic horse camp and equestrian trails (bring your own horses) are also available for those who wish to explore the undeveloped portions of the park. There are eight equestrian campsites, a fish cleaning station, archery range, nature trail and much more! The Junior Naturalist Program encourages youth to be physically active in the outdoors by participating in exciting recreational opportunities, including a Walk in the Park program, campground program, nature day camp and more. Other park activities include night hikes, scenic hikes and bird hikes for begin- ning bird watchers, arts and crafts, special presentations and movies. All the activities focus on helping people learn more about nature and the historical background of the area. Most of these events, except the nature hikes will be held at the amphitheaters located at Chief White Crane, Pierson Ranch and Lewis and Clark Recreation Areas. Activities run from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Throughout the summer a weekly park newsletter called The Explorer is available at the Welcome Center or at any of the park entrance booths.
