You will discover stretches of the Wild and Scenic Missouri River and plenty of outdoor activities, including miles of trails for hiking, biking, running and paddling. There are also many outdoor exhibits and Ranger programs provided throughout the river corridor and at a variety of historic sites and regional events. View the natural beauty and learn some of the diverse history of the recreational river along 126 miles of the South Dakota-Nebraska border. The National Park Service offers a variety of programs at the park and partner sites throughout the River Corridor for children, families, teachers and school field trip groups. Summer programming includes Junior Ranger and other programs for youth; guided walks, evening programs, canoe programs, fishing clinics, programs at the Lewis & Clark Visitor Center, an exhibit at the Yankton Chamber & Visitors Center and more. The Summit offers a strength and fitness area, indoor pool, two performing arts theatres, indoor and outdoor walking tracks, soccer fields, football fields, softball fields, eight lighted outdoor tennis courts and gymnasium to help visitors keep in shape. The Corps of Engineers offers a wide variety of recreational activities including camping, fishing, hiking, swimming and picnicking. The gallery, located in the Roncalli Center on Mount Marty College campus, is named after and in remembrance of the Benedictine monk, Bede the Venerable. Monthly exhibits from regional artists are featured throughout the school year, many with an artist s Gallery Talk and reception. A student exhibit highlights the end of each semester. The gallery is open to the public at no cost from Sept. through May. After you are done bowling, order a pizza. Then head to the arcade where kids (and adults too) can try their skill or luck on any of the interactive games, competing for tickets that you can turn in for prizes at the end of your visit. At the back of the Upper Chapel is a plaque on the east wall that commemorates the loving memory of the deceased Sisters of the Benedictine Convent of Sacred Heart Monastery.
